Quenns were in Dolmabahce Palace for the inaugural ceremony

- The opening gala of Istanbul Cup 2008 took place in Dolmabahçe Palace with the attendance of President of Turkish Parliament’s deputy Meral Akşener, the head of Istanbul’s sporting administration Tamer Taşpınar, the President of Turkish Tennis Federation Azmi Kumova, the players and the elite invitees.
In her speech, Meral Akşener told; “ This important organization of Turkey contains three major objections; the consistency, the quest for establishing high quality in all sporting events and the effectivity of promoting the beautiful city of Istanbul to the globe. We will do our best to raise the quality bar of the tournament.”
Defending champion Elena Dementieva declared her joy for returning to Istanbul while another title contender Nadia Petrova cited her will to success in Bosporus.
The invitees and the players experienced a wonderful soiree in the shades of the great Dolmabahce Palace and the curtains drawn with concert of ENBE Orchestra directed by Behzar Gerçeker at the end of this magical evening.
